This hugely generous award has helped meet the costs of converting a bungalow into a place where child victims and witnesses of crime can give evidence and receive support to recover from their ordeals.
The Bairns Hoose, the first of its kind in Scotland, will be a homely, welcoming environment, where children feel safe and supported and can begin healing from the trauma of the crimes they have experienced.
CEO of the Weir Group, Jon Stanton, said:
“The Weir Group is delighted to have made this donation to support the development of Scotland’s first Bairns Hoose. Thanks to our partnership with Children 1st, we know they put children’s voices at the heart of everything they do, and that this development is no different. We’re confident that our support will lead to a better experience for children and families who are sadly impacted by crime in Scotland.”
Staff at the multinational engineering company’s Glasgow headquarters will be channelling this generous spirit and aiming to achieve a £20,000 fundraising goal of their own. They got off to an excellent start with a spooktacular Hallowe’en bake sale and we look forward to supporting the team as they plan their next steps.
Our Director of Fundraising, Gary Kernahan, said:
“We’ve greatly appreciated the ongoing support of the Weir Group for the last three years and are so grateful that they share our vision for the Bairns Hoose. This generous gift helps to bring it one step closer to reality, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with their staff team to achieve further goals together.”
