New Prime Minister must not squander children's futures
Commenting on the 4th July 2024 General Election results Mary Glasgow, chief executive of Children 1st said:
“We congratulate the new prime minister Keir Starmer on his election victory.
“Throughout the election campaign, Children 1st have consistently raised concerns about the children across Scotland living in crisis. This new Labour government have a huge majority, giving them a crucial opportunity to address many of the devastating challenges that children across the country face. They must not squander our children’s futures.
“We ask the new Prime Minister to prioritise actions that put the needs of children first such as tackling child poverty, protecting them from online harm, investing in early help for families and incorporating the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into UK law so that we can keep children happy, safe and with their families.”
