National Bairns Hoose Standards
Following the publication of the National Bairns Hoose Standards for Scotland Mary Glasgow, Chief Executive at Children 1st, commented:
"The publication of the National Bairns Hoose Standards for Scotland is a huge step forward for children and families who are victims and witnesses of abuse and violence.
"Bairns Hoose is based on the internationally recognised Barnahus model, and the key purpose of the standards is to provide a common operational and organisational framework which is designed around the needs and rights of children.
"For many years we have campaigned for the rights of children in need of care, protection and justice and have played our part in ensuring these Standards are bold, brave and clear on the transformational change that is required for children.
"Our Changemakers, a group of young people who have experiences of the care, protection and justice system, shared their views and ideas for the Bairns Hoose and we continue to listen and learn from their experiences to make Bairns Hoose a reality for all children who need it.
"The Bairns Hoose Standards represent the level of skill, expertise and commitment from those involved who want to improve the experiences of children and their families and it is a testament to many years of hard work. It vital now that the vision the Standards sets out is upheld as Bairns Hoose is rolled out across Scotland and doing what is right, not what is easy, for children remains at the heart."
