Maggie Craig steps down as Children First Chair

Due to personal circumstances, Maggie Craig has stepped down as chair of the Children First Board of Trustees. Maggie joined the board in September 2020, becoming chair in 2022. Throughout her time on the Board Maggie has provided strong leadership with a keen focus on keeping the rights of the children we support at the centre of our strategic priorities.

Joy Barlow, will become interim chair with immediate effect. Joy has been vice chair of the Board since September 2024 and a trustee of Children First since September 2022. 

A recruitment process to appoint a permanent chair will take place over the next few months.

Joy Barlow, interim chair said: “We thank Maggie for her considerable contribution to Children First’s work over the past four years and wish her well.”

Maggie Craig said “I am sad to step away from a role I have enjoyed in a charity that is very close to my heart. I wish everyone at Children First well and have absolute confidence that the charity will continue its crucial work protecting Scotland’s children, so that all children can enjoy a safer, brighter future."
