Children First comment on BBC Disclosure documentary
Mary Glasgow, chief executive of Children First, said: “This documentary sets out shocking allegations of horrific cruelty and abuse of children who needed specialist therapeutic care and treatment.
"Skye House should have been a safe and trusted place for children and young people to recover and get well, with support from skilled, kind and caring professionals. But instead, we heard harrowing stories from the brave young people who came forward to share their experiences of having their rights to safety and dignity breached.
“These allegations must be thoroughly investigated; children and young people must be given space to talk about what happened to them and immediate action should be taken to improve standards of care to reassure children and their families that inpatient care is safe. We must find out how such a culture of cruelty was allowed to develop and be absolutely certain that it can never happen again.
