Children 1st has welcomed the publication of report from HM Inspectorate of Prosecution in Scotland on how domestic abuse cases are dealt with.
The report concluded that better communication with survivors, many of whom are children, is needed and recommended a "victim centred approach."
Chief Executive of Children 1st Mary Glasgow said:
“This is a timely report, with powerful insights into experiences of victims of domestic abuse, including many children. The findings around delays, adjournments, inconsistent access to special measures and basic information are all things that we still see far too often and can seriously affect children and families’ lives.
“Our work to open Scotland’s first Bairns Hoose is part of the solution, helping children to pre-record high quality evidence. But this must go hand in hand with system wide improvements, with better resourcing, case preparation and information sharing, so that children and their families feel safe and supported all the way through.”
