Children 1st response to UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill update
Responding to the news that the Scottish Government will present amendments to the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill “as soon as possible” after the parliament’s summer recess, Chief Executive of Children 1st Mary Glasgow commented:
“Children and young people campaigned hard to see the #UNCRC Bill through parliament. The issues around incorporation have always been technical but fixable. The Cabinet Secretary's update today is a welcome signal that progress will now be made.
“When the UNCRC is brought into law, it will make a real difference to the day to day lives of children across Scotland. It will create new layers of protection for those who need it most, and support children to grow up in a healthy and safe environment. It won’t fix everything straight away, but Scotland urgently needs to take this next step.
