Barmulloch Primary School work featured in anti-racist art exhibition
Artwork from Barmulloch primary school pupils, in Glasgow, has featured at an exhibition hosted by Children First to encourage everyone to consider how to be a good anti-racist ally.
The artwork resulted from a series of workshops that the children took part in with Children First, exploring how racism has impacted them, their school and wider community. Working together the children created characters to bring to life the traits and behaviours they would want to see in an anti-racist ally.

The characters, which feature in two posters highlight the attributes and the actions of anti-racist allies, including:
- Resilience
- Kindness
- Courage
- Being present in communities
- Teaching others
- Speaking up and speaking out.
Linda Jardine, director of children and families’ services at Children First said: “We want to say a huge thank you to all of the children at Barmulloch primary school and their teachers for sharing their experience and their incredibly powerful artwork to inspire change.
“Racism is a clear breach of children’s human rights and at Children First we are committed to ensuring that we act on what young people tell us about their experiences and what needs to change.

“It’s been an honour to host this exhibition of pupils’ work and we want to thank all the partners and colleagues who have joined us today to consider how we can ensure anti-racism is part of all our work with children.”
The posters will be displayed across Children First’s services and shared with partners. Digital versions can be requested by contacting: communications@childrenfirst.org.uk
