A fantastic opportunity to come and join the Children First team in Glasgow

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Glasgow Family Wellbeing Service, to positively impact on the lives of children, young people and their families, building empowering relationships to address the various, often complex, challenges they face. This is an innovative service, working alongside children and their families within communities across Glasgow, providing whole family support which is easily accessible and non-stigmatising.

Are you passionate about empowering young parents to thrive?

In this rewarding role, you’ll plan and deliver engaging group sessions covering parenting skills, child development, wellbeing, and family play. You’ll run drop-ins, work with partner organisations, and provide one-to-one support tailored to young parents (16-24) and children’s (0-5) needs. Your work will help build peer networks, raise awareness of rights, and connect families with vital services. You’ll also keep clear records, track outcomes, and contribute to shaping and improving the project.

What will you bring to the Glasgow Family Wellbeing team?

  • Experience supporting young parents and families in community, health, social care, or early years settings, with a focus on practical, relationship-based work.
  • Strong understanding of child development in the early years (0–5), including how children grow, learn, and communicate at different stages.
  • Knowledge of the role of play in helping children build attachment, confidence, and essential skills, and ability to use play-based approaches in working with families.
  • Awareness of the challenges faced by young parents, such as balancing their own wellbeing with parenting demands, navigating services, and dealing with issues like financial hardship or social isolation.
  • Confident in planning and delivering group sessions or workshops that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to the needs of young parents and their children.
  • Skilled in building trust quickly and working alongside people from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, recognising and valuing different family experiences.
  • Comfortable discussing sensitive topics, handling difficult conversations professionally, and maintaining clear boundaries while remaining approachable and supportive.
  • Committed to working in a non-judgemental, strengths-based way that respects the experiences and views of young parents.
  • Willing and able to work flexibly, including regular evenings and weekends, to ensure support is available when families need it most.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working directly in communities and feels comfortable engaging with people from all backgrounds
  • Is creative in designing and delivering group activities that bring families together and build confidence and skills
  • Understands how to make groups welcoming, inclusive, and safe spaces for everyone involved
  • Can build trust and positive relationships quickly, both one-to-one and in group settings
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully, even when conversations are sensitive or challenging
  • Understands how trauma can affect individuals and families and adapts their approach with empathy and care
  • Works well as part of a team, sharing ideas, supporting colleagues, and contributing to a positive team environment
  • Stays calm and solution-focused under pressure, with good organisational skills
  • Represents Children First professionally and keeps the wellbeing of children and families at the centre of their work

At Children First, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects communities across Scotland. Guided by our values, With Love, With Purpose, With Strength, we strive to create a culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported to thrive. We actively work to remove barriers to inclusion and promote equity in all aspects of our work. We warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those from marginalised communities, and are dedicated to ensuring a fair and supportive recruitment process.
